Guam – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo today ordered the Department of Revenue and Taxation to begin paying tax refunds. Priority will be given to residents with medical issues or a death in the immediate family.
“This is not the government’s money, it’s the people’s money,” Governor Calvo said. “I’m very concerned that payments stopped in the weeks before we came to office. We have an obligation to prioritize those who are struggling and need this money most. We’re not going to forsake the less fortunate during this cash crisis. They’re our priority, along with school children, the elderly and hospital patients.”
Residents with need can visit the Department of Revenue and Taxation to request for their refunds. They also can visit the Governor’s Division of Constituent Services at the Bordallo Governor’s Complex to make these requests.
The phone number to the division is 475-9137/337.
Residents also may email Constituent Services Director, Jesse Alig, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Refunds will be released based on the situation and the availability of cash.
