Governor Proclaims TODAY District Court Day

Guam – Governor Felix Camacho has proclaimed today, December 7, 2010, as “District Court Day.”

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the signing of the Organic Act of Guam and the creation of the District Court of Guam. In recognition of this historical occasion, the proclamation states: “the District Court of Guam has served the Island with distinction, protecting the rights and enforcing the responsibilities of all parties coming before it.”

On this important day, Governor Camacho commends our island’s legal system for carrying forth a rich legal heritage and calls on our island people “to recognize the responsibility to uphold the value of a free and just society.”

The District Court’s annual District Conference will be held today at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, and will include a special ceremony commemorating the court’s 60thAnniversary.

This year’s conference is co-sponsored by the District Court of Guam and the Guam Bar Association.
