Governor tours expeditionary medical facility at NCTAMS

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio toured the Department of Defense’s Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) under construction in South Finegayan, Dededo along with DoD leadership.

Joint Region Marianas Commander Rear Adm. John Menoni hosted the tour, which included guests Maj. Gen. Esther Aguigui, adjutant general of the Guam National Guard, and Brig. Gen. Tracy Smith, commanding general, 18th Medical Command (Deployment Support).

Navy ‘Seabees’ continue construction on the 150-bed capacity field hospital which will provide expanded medical capabilities in support of DoD’s COVID-19 response. The EMF project is expected to be complete in the coming weeks.

DoD is postured to provide medical support and supplies to civil authorities, including the Government of Guam, if and when authorized by the lead federal agency (FEMA) through U.S. Indo-Pacific Command tasking, as part of a Defense Support to Civil Authorities mission.
