Guam – Over the weekend the Guam Police Department’s website was hacked.
According to a release from Guam Homeland Security the GPD website had a message on it claiming to be hacked with the intention of spreading awareness about Syria’s conditions. Other GovGuam websites ending in guam.gov were also hacked. The Office of Technology or OTECH isolated the cyber-attack to a single webserver which was disconnected from the network. By Saturday evening all GovGuam sites had been restored and returned to normal. The Marianas Regional Fusion center is advising the community to “practice good cyber hygiene” and they released some tips to help people accomplish this. For example, be sure to practice good password management, never leave devices unattended, and always be careful when clicking on attachments or links in emails.
