As the island shifts to a greener infrastructure, the Guam Power Authority, in celebration of National Drive Electric Week —- will hold an electric vehicle roadshow this Friday
PNC’s Khyomara Santana has more on the story…
The event aims to raise awareness of the benefits of electric and hybrid cars and will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the GPWA headquarters.
GPA will display its new fleet of electric vehicles among other activities like on-site electric vehicle dealerships with sales experts and information on the benefits of EVs for car owners on the Island.
Part of GPA’s 5-year roadmap towards achieving clean energy is the transition into a fleet of electric vehicles and establishing charging stations to support it.
Besides the monetary relief from not having to depend on gas for cars, EVs also help lower carbon emissions.
Dan Rueckert, VP of Sheffield Scientific said, “With electric vehicles, you’re seeing reduced maintenance costs. Many fewer parts to deal with, as far as maintaining. Along with the longer term, no pollution or I say minimal, and we can get into discussions about total lifecycle but still, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced with the use of electric vehicles”
