Guam – The Guam Power Authority is celebrating the completion of the Hagatna Breaker Replacement Project.
$3-million dollars was spent to upgrade and replace 40-year old old equipment, including new transformers, breakers, relay panels and other hardware.
The substation is key link in GPA’s power grid because much of the power generated by the Cabras units, ends up being distributed from the Hagatna Substation.
During Monday’s ribbon cutting, GPA General Manager Joaquin Flores said the project will help improve the reliability, quality and efficiency of the power GPA provides. The Hagatna breaker project took about a year to complete. Flores says it is one of many capital improvement projects GPA will be undertaking over the next 5 years.
