GPA: Emergency Outage in Piti; Dead Brown Tree Snake Found; Vegetation Being Trimmed

Guam – As of 12:30 this afternoon the Guam Power Authority had restored power to most of  Piti  following an emergency outage that hit the village about 9:30 this morning.

GPA Spokesman Art Perez says full power was restored at 1:30 Friday afternoon.

Line crews found one dead brown tree snake on Roberto Street. Vegetation, he said, was trimmed back to prevent further power outages. However, Perez could not say whether the outage was caused by the snake.

Brown tree snakes often cause localized outages when they crawl out onto power lines along branches that extend around those power lines.
