The Guam Power Authority advises there are unscheduled power outages occurring within the islandwide power system.

GPA Dispatchers have been receiving reports from customers in various areas who have been experiencing interruptions of power services, since earlier this morning, due to inclement weather conditions.

Customers without power at this time include:

• A fallen tree has taken down power lines in the area of Piti along Route 1 to Asan Village. GPA crews are onsite and to perform the tree removal and restoration of power lines. This will require a 4-6-hour power outage. Approximately 38 customers will be without power for this duration.

• A downed static line in the Nimitz Hill – Turner Road area; GPA crews responding to the report.

• Power outages in the Inalado/entrance to Pago Bay and customers in the surrounding areas. GPA crews are responding: patrolling the lines and to make emergency repairs as necessary, then restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.

GPA regrets the inconvenience caused to customers in these areas, but the outage is necessary as a safety precaution while the GPA crews are performing this work.

Customers using backup generators, please ensure your main breaker is in the OPEN position to ensure the safety of the GPA crews working on the lines.

GPA is NOT disconnecting power service at this time and has extended the suspension of power utility disconnections for non-payment through May 30, 2020, and for as long as the Governor’s emergency executive order remains in place.
