The Guam Power Authority (GPA) is warning customers to be aware of the latest phone scam.
The utility says it’s hearing from GPA customers who are getting calls from an off-island telephone number asking for an immediate customer payment over the phone, or risk having their power shut off.
Customers say it’s a 1-888 number that’s calling them.
GPA reminds customers that its employees do not ever make phone calls to customers demanding immediate payments or threatening to leave them in the dark.
If you do receive a scam call, you should report it to police.
As a general rule, don’t provide any payment or personal information to any unverified callers.
