According to a release from GHURA, the new central precinct command will be located at the site of the old coca cola plant.
Guam – The Guam Police Department, with the help of a 1-million dollar bump from GHURA’s Community Development Block Grant, has officially announced a site in Sinajana for their new central precinct command for GPD.
According to a release from GHURA, the new central precinct command will be located at the site of the old coca cola plant. The new command center will consume 2.8 acres of land along route 4. GHURA helped obtain approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD, for the release of $1 million from GHURA’s community development block grant. The grant has previously been used to help fund the construction of parks around Guam, such as the Yigo skate park. According to the release, GHURA’s CBDG fund is used to help low and moderate-income persons and families. This is the 3rd police precinct constructed by GHURA. The release states that GPDS current central command is quote “no longer adequate in size or condition to serve the needs of law enforcement.” their is a groundbreaking scheduled for December of 2016 and the project is expected to be complete by September of 2017.
