Guam – Guam Police have arrested 22 year old  “El’charlestar Omisiong Eledui” of Dededo on charges relating to a purse snatching in Tumon early this morning.

According to a release from acting Guam Police Spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon, Eledui was arrested on robbery and assault charges. He has been booked and confined.

Sgt. Aguon reports that the incident occurred about 1 am this [Friday] morning.

2 women had just left the Grand Plaza and were walking east on San Vitores towards the Tumon Sands. The pair sensed “something was wrong”  and they turned around and saw a man, whom they later identified as Eledui, walking towards them from behind.

According to Sgt. Aguon, the women told police they “were concerned” about Eledui’s presence. Then he caught up with them and pushed one of them to the ground and grabbed her purse. During the struggle the woman “sustained abrasions”.

Within minutes after reporting the crime, Sgt. Aguon says that GPD Officers J.N. Muna and L.J. Aguon (HPD) saw a man, later identified as Eledui, walking west past Burger King on San Vitores Road.

They stopped the man in front of  TTPC to question him and saw that he was concealing clothing that matched the description of the suspect in the purse snatching.  He had on a red t-shirt over another t-shirt with a particular design on it. And they noticed that he had a black baseball cap concealed under his shirts at the small of his back.

Both women identified Eledui as the man who robbed them.
