The dead man found in a car parked behind the Micronesia Mall Monday morning remains an injured person investigation.
Sgt. Paul Tapao, Guam Police Department spokesman, says the case has not been re-classified yet. An autopsy must still be completed before the status of the investigation can be changed or reclassified.
Tapao said the case has been forwarded to the criminal investigation division. But whether it is upgraded into a more serious death investigation depends on the results of the ongoing investigation.
“The thing that we’re waiting for is for the scientific pathology and of course for the autopsy to be performed to determine the cause of death and the manner of death. Once we get the ruling from the pathologist we will move forward with the investigation,” Tapao said.
Tapao declined to speculate whether there was foul play involved or whether it is a case of suicide.
