In just a couple of days, 2019 will be coming to a close and residents are advised to take precautions to celebrate this time responsibly and safely.

With fireworks set to light up the night sky and parties being planned to commemorate a new year and a new decade, the Guam Police Department would like to remind the public to take the necessary steps to have fun without worry.

“We kindly ask the community to give that gift of life and continue to give that gift of life by designating a responsible, sober driver, not just for the new year, but throughout the year. We also want to ask the community to break away from the Guamanian tradition of discharging their firearm. It is against the law,” Tapao said.

According to Tapao, the department has dealt with injuries and properties getting damaged due to stray bullets. He also adds that the only agency that can authorize the display of fireworks is the Guam Fire Department.
