GPD: Chuukese Far Out Numbered Any Other Ethnic Group in Alcohol Related Arrests in December

Guam – The Guam Police Department has released a report which shows that members of Guam’s Chuukese community far and away outnumbered any other ethnic group on Guam in alcohol related arrests in the month of December, 2011.

Although they make up only a fraction of the island’s population,  29 Chuukese were arrested in December for DUI, followed by Chamorros, who are the largest ethnic group, with just 17 arrests;  Public drunkenness, 18 Chuukese were arrested, 3 Chamorros; under-age drinking, 14 Chuukese, only 4 Chamorros were arrested.

All other ethnic groups numbered 3 or fewer arrests.

The report was released by GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia. It covers arrests made during DUI checkpoints and other police enforcment efforts during December.
