GPD: Criminal Justice Task Force Arrests 5 For Auto Theft and Resisting Arrest

Guam – Five people were arrested last night by the Criminal Justice Strike Force [CJSF] on charges of auto theft and resiting arrest.

According to a release from GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia,  the CJSF got a call just after 6pm last night that a car had been stolen  from the Boat Shop in Hagatna.  An All Points Bulletin went out for the vehicle, a white 2002 Suzuki XL 7.

About an hour later the car was spotted in the parking lot of Watsup Grocery Store in Barrigada and officers converged on the scene. Officer Balajadia reports that as police approached,  the stolen vehicle reversed into one of the Guam Police cars and collided with that patrol car.

3 of the 5 occupants were arrested at the scene, the other 2 fled on foot and were later apprehended.

GPD Chief Fred Bordallo commended the CJSF for its quick work in apprehending the suspects. The Strike Force is under the direction of Sergeant Major Randy Aguon.  Officer Balajadia says Chief Bordallo created the Strike Force to in the wake of the raising crime rate on island.

Its goal is to work with the Criminal Investigations Division to round up wanted individuals, suppress criminal activity and team up with Operation Dragon in order to reduce violent crime.

They have been booked and confined on the following charges:

The Criminal Justice Strike Force (CJSF)under the direction of Sergeant Major Randy Aguon, Office of the Chief of Police reported responding to a reported vehicle, described as a;

2002 Suzuki XL7 4door white

being stolen from the Boat Shop in Hagatna last night at about 6:08p.m., 10/16/13. An all points bulletin was broadcasted in which a culmination of Hagatna Precinct Units, Agat Precinct Units and the Criminal Justice Strike Force Units saturated the area in search the stolen vehicle.

Approximately 7:10p.m., same date, Criminal Justice Strike Force Officers intercepted the reported stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Watsup Grocery Store in Barrigada. Upon approaching said occupants of said stolen vehicle, a collision occurred as said stolen vehicle reversed into the Guam Police Official.

Hagatna Precinct and Criminal Justice Strike Force converged, as information was desiminated that the three of five occupants were being detained and two others fled on foot.

A search of the immediate area led to the apprehension of the two suspects that fled. The vehicle was recovered, contraband was confiscated and the vehicle was released to the registered owner.

The five suspects arrested are identified as;

Subjects were later booked and confined.

Chief Bordallo would like to commend everyone involved for working quickly in the apprehension of these individuals. He would also like to thank the Judiciary and the Department of Corrections for providing their personnel who are part of the Civilian Police Reserves to the Task Force.

The Criminal Justice Strike Force, was created by Chief Bordallo due to the raise in Violent Crimes.  CJSF will be working with Criminal Investigations Division to round up wanted individuals, suppression of criminal activity in the streets and team up with Operation Dragon in reducing violent crimes against our community.
