Guam – The Guam Police Department is advising motorists that Guam Highway Patrol will be conducting DUI Checkpoints this wekend starting Friday, June 6, at 6pm through Saturday, June 07, at 6am.
Checkpoints will resume Saturday night at at 6pm and continue through Sunday at 6am.
GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia says the checkpoints may be set up at various locations on all major roadways including Route 1 ( Marine Corps Drive), Route 8, Route 4, Route 16, Route 10 and Route 14 in Tumon.
Officer Balajadia says the goal of the checkpoints is “to reduce the number of DUI’s and Traffic Fatalities through education campaigns and enforcement.”
If the weather does not allow for setting up of DUI Checkpoints, Guam Highway Patrol will conduct roving enforcement.
“Do not drink, AND drive, do not drink, THEN drive. Please utilize a non-alcohol drinking designated driver or a taxi to get you home safely.”
