Guam – The Guam Police Department has put together a Robbery Task Force to deal with the rash of robberies in recent months.
There have been 14 robberies since April. GPD Major Rick Leon Gurrerro says that about 3 or 4 were purse snatchings down in Tumon, the rest were armed robberies which included firearms, as well as other types of weapons. He could not say how many involved firearms.
The Robbery Task Force consisting of 2 teams. The 1st team will concentrate on investigations and the second team will work on suppression.
GPD also provides the following advice to victims of a robbery.
Do’s and Don’ts
Try to remain calm
Note all details of the suspect; clothing, shoes, hair, eyes, weight, tattoos, scars, and so on.
Direction of flight; foot or vehicle
Fight with the suspect
Chase after the suspect
