Guam – The Guam Police Department is asking the community to help identify a partially decomposed body found last night in Mangilao.
GPD Spokesman Officer AJ Balajadia tells PNC that the body was discovered by a group of children playing in the area who smelled a foul odor. The body was located right behind a coconut tree within plain sight and just a few feet off of Dairy Rd in Mangilao. Balajadia says it appears at this point the body could have been laying there for about 12 to 48 hours.
It appears that he died while trying to pick coconuts.
Police were dispatched to the area and the body was removed.
“We received a phone call yesterday late afternoon. Some kids were walking by and they smelled something and they thought possibly a dead animal. They went to investigate and they located a male adult or what appears to be a male adult dead here in the grass,” Balajadia explains. “It doesn’t appear at this point to be suspicious in nature, however we are conducting a death investigation and depending on what the autopsy results reveal we’ll go from there.”
Police are asking the community to help identify the person. If you or anyone you know has been missing or has not come home, you are asked to call Guam Police at 475-8615 or 8617.
