GPD: ‘Investigation continues’ in Mangilao pedestrian crash

The Guam Police Department continues to investigate the death of a woman involved in the Mangilao crash on May 12, according to department spokesperson Officer Berlyn Savella.

Around 7:40 p.m. on May 12, GPD responded to a reported traffic crash, involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Rt. 10 and Rt. 15 in Mangilao.

The pedestrian, later identified as Malee T. Estrellado, was transported to Guam Regional Medical City in Dededo. She was later pronounced dead by an attending physician.

The Guam Patrol Division was activated and took over the investigation.

According to preliminary findings, a sedan was crossing the intersection of the Rt. 10 and Rt. 15 when it struck the pedestrian within the intersection, who was crossing from west to east.

The press release did not state whether Estrellado was jaywalking or using a cross walk.

Savella told the Pacific News Center that the investigation continues.
