According to GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio, this cycle yielded the highest number of recruits within the last few years.

“We’ve always talked about our shortage of police officers, so this is a welcome relief to the police department, but more importantly, to the community,” he said.

Chief Ignacio adds that within the last few days, 19 people have applied to join the department. He says that his goal is to have 30 recruits in the next training cycle.
