Guam police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao reports that police are trying to verify a report of a second shooting along the back road to Andersen AFB last Friday night.
Various other media report that a man was shot in the thigh Friday and that the incident was reported to police.
However, police have not reported it publicly beyond Sgt. Tapao’s statement to the Pacific News Center that: “We trying to verify.”
No information about the incident has been released by police, three days after the reported shooting. It’s not clear why.
On K-57 this morning, Yigo Mayor Rudy Mantanane said he knows the Concepcion family where the second shooting reportedly occurred and he plans on visiting the family today to learn more about the incident.
“We still don’t know what’s happening there,” said Mantanane. “What they’re saying is that it was probably an accidental shooting, but I still don’t know.”
Nearly three weeks ago, on Nov. 13, 27-year-old Catarina Pitto was shot six times in the same area along Route 15. She told the Pacific News Center that someone had been following her and a person in that vehicle shot at her car.
Pitto is recovering from her wounds. Police have not made any arrests in that case.
