The new hospital is only able to accept Net Care Insurance for now.
Guam – The Guam Regional Medical City is still working on being able to accept some health insurance carriers on Guam.
At their grand opening celebration yesterday, CEO Margaret Bengzon told PNC that so far they’ve only been able to sign up with Net Care insurance.
There are three other major insurance companies on Guam: Take Care, Staywell and Calvo’s Select Care. GRMC began seeing patients on the first of the month.
Bengzon says for the most part operations have been pretty smooth despite their inability to accept three of the four major insurance carriers.
“Net Care has signed up and like I said SelectCare and Stay Well are really very close to closing out,” explains Bengzon. When asked about Take Care insurance, “We’re a little ways along with them, but I’m sure we’ll get there … Medicare and Medicaid are gonna come in after our certification survey. We’re taking Medicare and Medicaid patients now but we’re not gonna be able to bill Medicare and Medicaid for that care until we’re properly certified.”
We also asked about GRMC’s emergency department. Bengzon says their emergency services should be up and running within a few weeks.
