Effective Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) will relax its visiting policies in response to today’s transition to PCOR2.
GRMC also reminds the public there is now a security checkpoint as you enter the hospital grounds. The security checkpoint is located at the main entrance intersection in front of the hospital.
The checkpoint is operational 24-hours a day to increase security measures to ensure the safety of patients, employees and visitors at GRMC.
Inpatients will be allowed to have one visitor a day for one hour only. Visiting hours will be daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Specific visiting times have been assigned to each room and must be observed. There will be no extension of visitation times. Please contact Customer Relations at 645-5500 to verify the patient’s assigned visiting time.
All inpatient visitors must enter through the main Lobby and submit to a screening by security for temperature and COVID-19 symptoms. They then proceed to the Customer Relations desk to receive a color-coded badge indicating which ward they will be visiting.
Overnight visitors will still not be allowed, unless a specific order is given by the patient’s doctor in consultation with nursing staff.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (ED)
No visitors are allowed in the Emergency department, except for patients with special needs and children.
Adults with disabilities requiring assistance may have one adult companion. Children may be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian.
Anyone coming to the ED must come through the ED entrance only. ED patient companion(s), except the aforementioned, will be asked to stay in their vehicle and will not be allowed inside. This includes companions for patients who have been admitted but not yet moved to their room. Companions will be asked for a contact number and will be notified of the patient’s condition. If companions choose to wait in the ED visitors parking area, it is located near the ED entrance.
Outpatients who require assistance getting to and from their appointments are allowed one companion per patient. Outpatients and their companion must enter through the Main Lobby or east entrance of the hospital and check in with Customer Relations for an orange-colored badge, indicating Specialty Clinic.
Patient companions will not be allowed to wait in the lobby area while patients are being assessed for surgery or during procedures. The designated companion will be asked to leave their name and contact number and will be notified when the procedure is finished.
Viewing in the morgue will be increased to no more than ten (10) people for one hour. Viewers must enter through the Lower Lobby entrance.
Visitors will not be permitted to roam to other areas of the hospital. The only exception is to go to the BOKA CITY cafeteria, City Café, ATM, gift shop, or the vending machines on the first floor. Sitting is not allowed in the cafeteria or café.
GRMC will insist on following proper COVID-19 protocols, which includes submitting to a screening by security for temperature and possible COVID-19 symptoms. GRMC insists on social distancing and wearing a mask at all times while in the hospital. Masks with valves will not be allowed.
Anyone refusing to be screened or wear a mask will not be allowed to enter the hospital.
GRMC apologizes for any inconvenience or hardship our visitation policies may cause, but they are necessary to ensure the continued safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
