E911 services now back up

UPDATE: All GTA landlines and cellphones are back in service; 9-11 is fully operational.

Guam – Around 5pm, the Guam Fire Department advised residents that the 9-11 emergency system was partially down affecting all GTA Teleguam costumers.

In a statement from GFD Spokesperson Cherika Chargualaf, GTA “acknowledges the issue and is working on it.”

The issue stemmed from a problematic switch from the telecommunication agency resulting in the subsequent outages.

About 15 minutes later, Chargualaf noted that a few lines were slowly returning, but it was not until 5:39pm when it was announced that the lines were fully restored.

During the outage, Guam Police Department Spokesperson AJ Balajadia informed the media that residents could contact police dispatch in the event of an emergency at 472-8911.
