With just a few days left in August, GACS still has no word when the 6th through 12th grade students can begin their classes this fall.

Guam – By now, most public school students are settling into their classes, but not those at Guahan Academy Charter School.

Yet another construction delay is keeping students from starting their academic year.

With just a few days left in August, GACS still has no word when the 6th through 12th grade students can begin their classes this fall.

The charter school has previously announced a late start to parents and stakeholders, but the most recent announcement drew some criticism.

On their social media page, one student wrote: “It’s my senior year and I’m so tired of all this procrastination. I love this school and the administrators but the board had all summer…I don’t see why it only had to be this summer for this building to be prepared for us.”

Meanwhile, former charter school board member and parent of a GACS student, Terry Debold tells PNC that although there is a delay, the charter school has done a good job at keeping parents informed.

Board Chairman Roger Cooper was not available for comment as of news time.
