Guam Air Guard Team Headed for United Arab Emirates

Guam – A team of Airmen from the Guam Air National Guard departed this morning to start their deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Airmen are members of the 254th Force Support Squadron, but will be attached to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, as augmentees. This is a three-month rotation for the GUANG Airmen.

Another team was deployed in April to the same base and is expected to return this month.

The team’s mission is to provide a wide range of support services functions to include food service, lodging, mortuary affairs, fitness, recreation, field exchange and other support programs.

The team is expected to return to Guam sometime in September.
