Guam – In celebration of Mes CHamoru, the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center held a flag raising ceremony to celebrate and bring awareness to mental health on Guam.

Guam Behavioral Health Director Rey Vega and Senator Tommy Morrison were the key speakers of the event. The ceremony also featured a CHamoru chant from the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Centers chant therapy group. Vega says it’s important for the new generation of CHamoru’s including our young generation to learn the history and tradition of the CHamoru people.

“I’ve seen the growth of the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, formerly known as department of mental health and substance abuse. We’re still doing our best, there is still lots of improvement that needs to be made. But most especially I owe this progress to the staff and the people we serve, they are part of our community and we will continue to be a part of their lives,” said Vega.
