Guam- The Guam Environmental Protection Agency (GEPA) and the Guam Energy Office (GEO) are partnering to celebrate Energy Conservation Month.
A proclamation signing ceremony was held in Adelup Thursday morning to officially kick off the event. Acting Governor Mike Cruz says this shines the light on renewable and sustainable sources of energy for Guam. And despite the initial costs to invest in this green technology, he believes it will eventually pay itself off.
“This is the perfect time for us to be involved in that, given this marine relocation and the fact that there’s going to be a significant amount of money that’s coming into our island to start making those moves towards sustainable, renewable, clean, green energy sources” said Cruz.
GEPA is also partnering with the University of Guam on research into renewable and sustainable energy sources. Administrator Elizabeth Cruz says Guam can highlight different ways to utilize alternative forms of energy in the pacific.
