Guam – The Guam Department of Education has announced that it is releasing merit bonus checks for employees FRIDAY.

The checks will be dispersed to the schools and divisions from GDOE’s Payroll Division at 9am. Schools and divisions will be contacting employees to notify them that they have a check waiting for them at their respective work site.

For individuals that wish to inquire if they have merit bonus check, they may call their work site to find out.

Guam DOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez said that the bonuses that are being paid out cover the applicable statute of limitations which is three years. Anything beyond that is subject to the availability of funding, he said.

“First and foremost I would like to congratulate all of the employees that have earned a merit bonus,” said Fernandez in a release.  “I am proud of the recipients that have been recognized for their efforts in serving the children of our public schools.”

He also commended DOE staff for their hard work in processing the payments to ensure that they would be ready for release.

Employees that are no longer working at GDOE may receive their checks at the Payroll Division pick up window starting at 9:00 A.M. as well. Former employees wishing to inquire may contact the Payroll Division at 475-0430 to determine if they have a check.

Any bonus checks that are not picked up at the respective work sites will be returned to the Payroll Division by the end of the work day.
