Guam DOE: Village Meetings Scheduled on the Reassignment of School Attendance Areas

Guam –  Guam Department of Education (“GDOE”) Superintendent Jon Fernandez announced the times and locations for the village meetings to share the reassignment of attendance areas plan.

 

The meetings will begin on Thursday, February 6 at the Mong-Mong/Toto/Maite Community Center at 6:00 PM and are as follows:  

The reassignment of attendance areas plan focuses on the enrollment numbers in the high schools. This will be accomplished through both the opening of a central high school and the expansion of Okkodo High School.  

“The committee comprised of school administrators, village mayors and key personnel from other agencies is recommending high school enrollment numbers that will alleviate crowding conditions at our schools,” said Fernandez. “These projected numbers will shift the focus from crowd control to the mission of teaching and learning.”

The projected enrollments for the public schools if approved by the Guam Education Board will be as follows:
