Guam Firefighters were battling a massive blaze on Easter Sunday, that took nearly 13 hours to get under control.

GFD said units from the Piti and Agat Fire Stations, along with a tanker from Andersen Fire, responded to the grass fire along Turner Road, in Nimitz Hill.

Guam Fire spokesperson Kevin Reilly said, because of the high winds and dry conditions, crews were battling the fire throughout the day and into the night.

Units showed up around 9:40am Sunday, and didn’t put the fire out until around 10:30pm.

No property damage was reported, however one GFD firefighter was checked and treated at the scene by Medic 5, for possible heat related illness. No other injuries were reported.
