The group will incorporate the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Dozens of representatives from the public, private, and civil sectors will gather Thursday for the launch of the Guam Green Growth (G3) Working Group and build the framework to put Guam on a path to a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future.

The G3 Working Group, established by Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero through Executive Order. No. 2019-23, intends to develop strategies that will accelerate local sustainability solutions to global challenges, like climate change, sea-level rise, and wasteful economic models.

The group will incorporate the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and build upon the partnership Guam has with the Local2030 Islands Network – an island alliance advancing locally and culturally driven models for sustainability.

Local officials and stakeholders will tackle various topics related to their expertise, such as health, education, natural resource management, and agriculture, and determine what actions must be taken to for the sustainable development of our island.

The group will be led by the Offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Guam and the University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability.
