Guam – The Guam Homeless Coalition is seeking volunteers to assist in conducting its annual Point-In-Time homeless count.
The annual count will take place on Friday January 25th 2019. Each year volunteers walk through Guam’s neighborhoods to count people who appear to be living in places not meant for human habitation. Volunteers also administer a questionnaire to determine a persons background and needs. The coalition is seeking the community’s help to recruit an additional 150 volunteers for the 2019 count.
The count provides a snapshot of homeless persons and helps service providers better understand trends in homelessness. If you would be interested in volunteering, you must attend a mandatory 1 day training that will cover topics including safety, communications and logistics.
First time volunteers can attend a training briefing on any day from from Wednesday Jan. 16th 2019 to Friday Jan. 18th 2019 from 8 am-2pm at the Catholic Social Services Conference room in Barrigada. Returning volunteers can attend their training on Tuesday Jan 15th from 8am – noon also at the Catholic Social Services Conference room in Barrigada.
