Tropical Storm Update: Guam in COR 4 


Governor Eddie Baza Calvo and Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar, Commander, Joint Region Marianas, have declared the island and its military partners to be in Condition of Readiness 4. 


As Tropical Storm Goni moves away from Guam, residents are urged to heed all warnings and advisories. More rain is expected, creating hazardous driving conditions. Conditions should improve slightly as the day progresses. A monsoon trough in the region will continue to bring more rain to Guam.


Public Schools

Department of Education officials are currently assessing buildings for damages or any issues that impact student safety. The decision to open or close schools will be announced later today. 


NWS watches Atsani

There have been questions about Tropical Storm Atsani. The system is located 15.2 North and 161.1 East as of 8 a.m. today, placing it approximately 1,100 miles northeast of Guam. At this time, meteorologists do not believe Atsani will be a threat to Guam.
