Guam – The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Mock Trial Team placed 8th in the National High School Mock Trial Championship held in Albuquerque, New Mexico this past week.
In the competition, the champions from 46 states, Guam, the CNMI and Korea participated in mock trials over a two day event. The top two teams then competed in a final round to determine the national champion.
This year St. Thomas played teams from Korea, Texas, Tennessee and Hawaii. This is the fourth year in a row that St. Thomas has represented Guam in the national competition, and it was the school’s best showing so far. The competition is extremely tough.
The results of the competition can be viewed online at: http://www.nationalmocktrial.org/results2012.cfm.
At the conclusion of the competition, the top ten teams were recognized and presented with trophies. During the award ceremonies outstanding attorney and witness awards were also presented.
