Guam National Guard Stages 2 Welcome Home Ceremonies Sunday for Returning Guardsmen

Guam -The Guam National Guard recognized returning soldiers and airmen Sunday who were deployed in support of overseas contingency operations.

Two ceremonies took place at Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) and the Barrigada Readiness Center on Sunday. During the Hometown Heroes salute at AAFB, about 21 airmen from the 254th Security Force Squadron, 254th Red Horse Squadron and 254th Force Support Squadron were honored. Another 64 soldiers from the Saligao Platoon, Embedded Training Team 4 and the 105th Troop Command were also recognized at the Guard’s Freedom Salute in Barrigada.

The airmen and soldiers were deployed on missions to Iraq and Afghanistan for Operation New Dawn and Operation Enduring Freedom. Family and friends of the service members were also present during the Sunday ceremony.
