GUNG 2015 TAG CUP opens with Bowling Saturday.
The Adjutant General’s Cup, or TAG Cup, kicks off the 2015 season with a Bowling tournament next Saturday, January 17th, at Central Lanes in Tamuning, beginning at 10 a.m.
PRESS RELEASE – Each team is made up of Guam National Guard (GUNG) Soldiers, Airmen, Department of Military Affairs civilian employees and their family members. GUNG retirees are also eligible to participate.
“The theme for this year’s tournament is ‘Flashback to the 80’s Bowling’ and is expected to not only be competitive, but a lot of fun”, according to Air Guard Technical Sgt Kesha Duenas, one of the event coordinators.
Bowling is the first of 12 events which are part of the Guard’s 2015 TAG Cup and provides an opportunity for members of the Guam Guard and their families to participate in sports events that aim to foster camaraderie and promote positive competition among units, as well as promote continuing physical fitness that is so important to the readiness of the Guard force.
It is also part of the Guam National Guard’s celebration of its 34th anniversary of its Charter. Other events include Basketball, Softball, Flag Football, Paddling, Golf, Volleyball, 5K Timed Events and Kevlar Relay, Combatives, Soccer and Organizational Day competitions. The Talent Show is the final event and will culminate in August with all event awards and the overall TAG Cup Winner to be presented that evening.
