Guam Green Growth Initiative is partnering with Hawaii Green Growth Initiative in developing an online platform to monitor Guam’s progress in achieving its sustainability goals.
Guam is looking at the Aloha+Challenge platform as inspiration.
Aloha+Challenge is an online open-data platform to track progress, provide accountability and ensure transparency in Hawai’i’s sustainability goals.
According to the Hawaii Green Growth Initiative, the dashboard was developed through a multi-year process using community engagement to identify statewide indicators.
These benchmarks include clean energy or renewable energy use, local food production and consumption, natural resource management, solid waste reduction, and smart sustainable communities among others.
Guam’s own platform would track the progress made in the implementation of the G3 action framework, according to Governor Lou Leon Guerrero.
“This action framework is what we are using and this dashboard which we would like to also have is a good positive step in making sure that we have information in our fingertips,” the governor said.
During the G3 action framework signing event, Hawaii Governor David Ige made a commitment to share the Hawaii dashboard with the G3 initiative highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and partnership in tackling global issues like climate change.
The data from the platform could provide trends and resources for decision-makers, practitioners, and communities.
