Guam Pride and GALA Guam holding Black Lives Matter protest Friday

Guam Pride issued a news release, saying while pride month started last week they cannot turn away from the racism, violence and alt-right politics that are turning U.S. streets into, “ugly exhibitions of hatred and intolerance.”

“The LGBTQIA+ community has a keen understanding of oppression, violence and discrimination, especially those living at the intersections of sexual orientation, gender identity, class, race and other marginalized identities. As a diverse community, we stand up to hatred together, now and always. We will ALWAYS call out racism. We stand in solidarity and will not be silenced as long as those in our community endure these atrocities.”

“We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of Black Lives Matter.
Guam Pride, in partnership GALA Guam will be hosting a smaller LGBTQ Pride Month wave for LGBTQ equality and protest in support of Black Lives Matter at the ITC corner in Tamuning on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. This is an all ages event open to the public.”

The organizers ask that all attendees wear masks and practice safe social distancing.

Due to the impacts of Covid-19 and the Governors Executive Order 2020-04 mandating social distancing, all Guam LGBTQ Pride signature events (The Party, The March) have been rescheduled to the Fall of 2020.

Guam Pride will be participating in a virtual pride event on June 27, 2020. You can find more information about Global Pride here:
