Guam Q3 CPI: Prices Up 2.3% Over Last Year; Transportation & Medical Post Highest Increases


Guam – Overall Consumer Prices on Guam rose 2.3%  in the 3erd Quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.

The 3erd Quarter report covers the months of July, August and September.

According to the latest report from the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, the highest increases were recorded in the Transportation and Medical Groups.

The Transportation Group saw an increase of  7.6% over Q3 of last year with New Car prices rising  8.8%.

The Medical Care Group rose 4.5% over last year with Physician Services rising 9% over last year and surging 25.9%  since June of this year.

Housing prices are up 2.6% over Q3 of last year and they have actually dipped  -1.4% since June.

The cost of Food has fallen -0.9% compared to last year, however beef prices have surged 15% since last year, and fats and oils are up 10.9%
