Guam – The Republican Party of Guam stands behind Congressman Michael San Nicolas in his legislative efforts to get the war claims paid out.

GOP Chairman Jerry Crisostomo said, “We believe this long standing issue is larger than our partisan differences, and the Republican Party of Guam is glad to assist with this effort. We have already been engaged with the RNC in working with key Republican US senators, house members and our contacts at the Trump White House.”

According to the GOP, the issue of supporting HR 1365 or the Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act has been discussed between the party and RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel when she visited Guam in April.

The party said that since then, they have been working on the issue even before receiving the congressman’s letter requesting their support.

The party also recognized the importance of getting the war claims paid, especially with the 75th Anniversary of the island’s liberation approaching fast.

Crisostomo said, “We have already been engaged with the RNC in working with key Republican senators to be able to advance this measure successfully in the US senate.”
