Guam – Three Guam Army Reservists from the 9th Mission Support Command are slated to arrive in Hawaii Saturday after a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The Reservists were deployed as part of the Hawaii Army National Guard’s 230th Engineer (Eng) Company and have been mobilized on active duty for the past year.
The Soldiers trained at Schofield Barracks prior to deploying to Regional Command East, Afghanistan, where they were responsible for numerous building projects that included: huts, outposts, Morale and Welfare facilities, latrines, aid stations, battle positions and more. Some of the last work they completed was preparing structures for the cold weather.
Before returning home to Guam the Soldiers will complete redeployment requirements in Hawaii.
