Guam- The Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce took center stage at the Rotary Club of Tumon Bay luncheon today [Tuesday].
Co-Founder Lou Leon Guerrero tells PNC they have been busy increasing membership since the new organization launched a few months ago. Currently, she says the Women’s Chamber is looking at doing affinity programs to advertise small businesses. They are also researching and working with health insurance providers to get better discounted premiums for women in small businesses. The Bank of Guam President notes some proposals have already been given and they want to provide this new benefit to their members in the first quarter of next year.
“One of the things that women in small businesses are always looking for is some kind of health care insurance and to do it by themselves, with say maybe employees of only two or three, it’s going to be really expensive,” said Leon Guerrero. “So if they can come into an organization like the Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce to help with that pool, that would be great.”
Leon Guerrero adds they are also focused on creating a Women’s Business Center. Their next meeting is on November 14 at 8 a.m. in the Marriott Resort. Everyone is invited to attend.
