This is one of the many bills that will be forwarded to the Guam Legislature.

Guam – The Guam Youth Congress wants to change the compulsory leaving age of school students from 16 years old to 18 years old.

The Youth Congress is hoping that a bill to accomplish this goal can make its way to the next Legislative Session along with other measures that have passed the body. Speaker Lawrence Alcairo says that they will be submitting the bills for the Committee on Rules to consider and he’s hopeful that the senators will be more than optimistic at hearing what the youth of Guam have to say about the future direction of our island.

Alcairo says, “There’s a bill to appropriate funds to the Youth Congress, change the compulsory school age from 16 to 18 and to create a program for credit for students who are involved in clubs and contributed hours and project time. There’s a bunch of bills we’re forwarding.”

The Committee on Rules of the Guam Legislature is scheduled to meet tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
