Guam – Matt Ellis is organizing Guam’s first night mountain bike race series and he’s looking for bicycle enthusiasts to join in the fun. There will be two races.
The first race will be held Saturday, April 20 starting at Two Lover’s Point. The second race will be held the following Saturday, April 27 starting at the red dirt area near the Leo Palace entrance. Show time is 6 p.m. and go time is 7 p.m. The distance of the ride will be about 4 to 4 ½ mile loops.
Ellis said, “This started with a few of us cyclists talking about how fun it would be to do a couple night races. There is a large group of mountain bikers who conduct night rides after work during the week days. The Guam Cycling Federation had set their schedule for the season, so I decided to organize the event with myself and a few friends. I would like to recoup my expenditures and the rest of the money will go to GAIN.”
Because this is a night race, helmets and lights will be mandatory equipment for everyone wanting to participate. You can sign up to join this fun event at Hornet Sporting Goods. The cost is $15 for each race, individually or $20 for both. A portion of the proceeds will go to Guam Animals In Need.
If you’re interested in volunteering or you need more information contact Matt Elllis at 488-1823 or email@example.com or Valerie Bock at 483-6455.
