Guam – Family, friends and military officials paid their last respects to Nathan Joseph Villagomez Paet today [Wednesday].
A Funeral Mass was held at St. Francis Church in Yona for the 28 year murder victim who was gunned down outside his Las Vegas home 2 weeks ago in a plot that Las Vegas Police say involved his own wife, Michelle.
The Air Force Staff Sargent grew up in Yona. He joined the Air Force in 2002 and had been stationed at Nellis Air Force Base outside Las Vegas since November 2007. He was an F-15 supply section technician assigned to the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Nellis.
According to the Las Vegas police report, three people along with Nathan’s wife, Michelle Paet, have been arrested in connection to the alleged murder. Michelle admitted to “planning the shooting of her husband with” the man accused of killing him, Michael Rodriguez.
Las Vegas Police believe that Michelle’s plan was to split the proceeds from 2 life insurance policies totaling the sum of $650,000.
Paet’s body was flown back to Guam and arrived last Thursday, December 9th.
During this time family members wished not to comment on camera. Pacific News center respected their their wishes. But off camera, a relative to Nathan, who wished not to be identified says this was a senseless act.
Today the congregation Prayed the rosary for Nathan soul. Although this is a moment of sorrow, to the Catholic faithful this is a moment of joy if you believe in the resurrection.
Nathan was given full military honors at the Veterans Cemetery in Piti.
Nathan’s motorcade was escorted by 3 dozen motorcycles. On lookers quietly watch on as 6 pallbearers slowly removed the American flag draped coffin from the hearse. They carefully carry Nathan to his final resting place. When they stop, Family members and friends surround him.
Then the final military honors was presented… The 21 gun salute…. followed by “Taps”
May Guam’s son, Nathan, forever rest in peace…..
