Guam – An Airman from the Guam Air National Guard’s 254th Air Base Group arrived Monday night after completing her deployment to Afghanistan.
Technical Sergeant Jean Chabanne was greeted by family members and several fellow Air Guard members as she emerged from the airport customs area.
While at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan, TSgt. Chabanne was attached to the 455th Aerospace Expeditionary Wing/Expeditionary Force Support Squadron/Personnel Contingency. She was deployed for 60 days, arriving at Bagram in mid-May.
TSgt. Chabanne’s responsibilities while in country included personnel accountability, casualty reporting and customer service. She also processed NATO Awards for all Airmen under the 455th AEW, conducted weekly Combat Orientations for new comers into the Area of Responsibility (AOR), briefed 150-160 Airmen weekly about the AOR, and conducted exit briefs on average of twice a week.
About 130 Guam Air Guard Airmen from the 254th RED HORSE Squadron and the 254th Force Support Squadron are still deployed in various locations in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
