Guam – Guam Unique Merchandise and Art, Inc. (GUMA) participants completed the University of Guam’s (UOG) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Microcredit Training Program.
Beginning in April, the 12-week microcredit training program was facilitated by Denise Mendiola-Hertslet, Senior Business Counselor and Program Coordinator for the SBDC.
The training consisted of personal and business financial literacy, developing a marketing and business plan and peer group development. Cultural producers and artists worked closely with Mendiola-Hertslet to finalize their business plans for presentation to their peers, and officials from the Pacific Islands Microcredit Institute and GUMA.
Graduation Certificates were presented to all participants followed by a fiesta luncheon held on Saturday, July 6 at the SBDC.
