Gutierrez Camp Begins Review of Voter Registration Lists, In Preparation for Lawsuit

Guam – The Gutierrez-Aguon team Wednesday began an inspection of the master voter registration lists for Precincts 1 through 10.

The lists were provided by the Guam Election Commission after a series of letters from members of the Gutierrez team seeking permission to conduct the review. The goal of the review is to compare the master registration list with all votes cast, including early In-Office votes, absentee ballots and the signature log from the individual precincts which records who voted at that precinct on election day.

The review is being conducted ahead of an expected lawsuit challenging the outcome of the Gubernatorial race. Election Commission Executive Director John Blas has told PNC News that such a lawsuit must be filed before this coming Monday.

At the Guam Election Commission Board’s meeting Wednesday afternoon, Calvo-Tenorio Attorney Tom Fischer questioned the right of the Gutierrez-Aguon team to review the master registration lists saying there confidential information about the voters may be disclosed. Fischer believes the privacy act may be violated.

However, Executive Director Blas said that the logs only show the voter registration number, their name, date of birth and address.

The GEC Board heard Fisher’s objections but did not take any action to stop the Gutierrez team’s review.
