Guam – The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) together with the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association (GHRA) will recognize and honor individuals and companies for exceptional contribution to the tourism industry in the past year. The Golden Latte Awards will take place during a special luncheon scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Guam, Grand ballroom.
“This year, GVB again has partnered with the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association to recognize companies, organizations and individuals who are going the extra mile in service to our visitors,” GVB General Manager Karl Pangelinan said. “As we celebrate 50 years of success in the tourism industry, we remember all the employees over the years who are the reason for that success. Today, over 18,000 hotel front desk staff, concierges, waiters, chefs, cooks, shopping center sales associates, tour operators, tour bus drivers, tour guides and many more individuals contribute to this billion dollar industry making Guam a better place to live, work and visit. They are the face of the industry and play a vital role in powering the tourism engine.”
“GHRA has many scholarship and awards/recognition programs where several of our members hold internal interviews with candidates from each department, then hold an internal voting process for the best candidate to represent the company to compete for the opportunity and recognition amongst other members within GHRA,” explained Mary P. Rhodes, President of GHRA. “This is a unique opportunity to continue one of GHRA’s mission, in partnership with GVB, to facilitate career development, foster a positive workforce and promote the industry and its valuable employees through a joint recognition program for the industry!”
